obituary Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Short, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 24, 1937 in Ionia the daughter of Tyler and Thelma (Bowers) Blount. Liz married Vernon Short on June 30, 1968 in Evart, Michigan. Liz retired from Electrolux in 1999 after over 34 years of service.
Liz enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino and mushroom hunting. She was an avid reader of angel books and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Liz is survived by her husband, Vernon of Sheridan; her children, Dennis (Ada) Harris of Carson City, Cliff (Maria) Short of San Antonio, TX, Denise (Brodie Kent) Harris-Button of Greenville, Chris (Cathy) Short of Dexter, Connie (Kevin Everingham) Short of Sheridan, Kimberly (Dennis Bondie) Short of Edmore, Corrine (Kevin Musser) Short of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a brother, Harry Blount.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Casey Button, and her siblings, Margueritte Cain, Tyler Blount, Virginia Minard, June Middling, Betty Johnson and Thomas Blount.
A memorial celebration of Liz's life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2-5 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Crystal. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Ave SE, Ada, MI 49301.
obituary Vernon Clifford Short, age 77, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021, at his home with his family by his side. He was born October 6, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Ira and Bessie (Burggren) Short.
Vernon married Elizabeth Blount on June 30, 1968 in Evart, Michigan. Vernon retired from Electrolux after over 30 years of service. Apart from that, Vernon spent many years farming. Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was a hog farmer, and raised beef, also. He was proud to have served the Mennonite community as an event driver. Vernon liked going to the casino with his wife, Liz, as well going camping, bowling, RVing, and spending time with family.
Vernon is survived by his children, Dennis (Ada) Harris of Carson City, Cliff Short of San Antonio, TX, Denise Harris-Button of Greenville, Chris (Cathy) Short of Dexter, Connie (Kevin) Everingham of Sheridan, Kimberly Short of Crystal, Corrine (Kevin Musser) Short of Cedar Springs; siblings, Ruby Berkimer, Lelia Mann, and Jim Short; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Liz; his parents; sister, Jean Neil; and a granddaughter, Casey Button. A memorial celebration of Vernon’s life will be held on December 7, 2021 from 3:00 - 8:00pm at “A Little Patch of Heaven,” 4962 Mt Hope Rd S, Carson City, MI 48811.
