1886 History of La Salle County, Illinois, Vol.2, (c)1886.. (pg.182-183) "John Everham was united in marriage to Eliza Ann Miller. John and wife came directly from the State of New York to De Kalb County, where he remained the first winter. The following spring removed to Earl Township. He he obtained fourty acres by pre-emption. We he reached this township he had but $100, but as he prospered he added to his farm until it reached its present dimensions. He remained on this place utnil his death, Feb 10, 1874. Politically he was in earlier life an Abolitionist, being one of the first four in the township; later was a Republican. Both Mr. and Mrs. Everham were of Quaker descent. They were the parents of three children, namely - Manley, Mary Jane, and Mrs. Jessie Moore."
