When Walter Edward Everingham was born on January 3, 1912, in Detroit, Michigan, his father, Edward, was 36 and his mother, Ethel, was 27. He had two sisters. He died on January 13, 1989, in Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 77, and was buried in Port Charlotte, Florida.

1945 The Eaton Rapids Journal, Eaton Rapids, MI, July 27, 1945... "A quiet wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Casler Sunday afternoon at four o'clock when their daughter Mona became the bride of Pfc. Richard S. Spicknell, son of Mrs. Walter Everingham of Detroit, and grandson of Mrs. Tucker, a former matron of the VFW Home. Pfc Spicknell has just returned from the European War Theatre where he was awarded the Purple Heart and three bronze stars."
