Labor Day at the St. Nicholas Hotel...A large crowd of visitors from the neighboring country and big delegation from Peekskill swelled the large crowd of guests of the hotel to several hundred.... the 25 yard run for ladies which was won by Miss Frances Smillie, Miss Violet Everingham second. The potato race for ladies was won by Miss Eva Hogamayer, Miss Violet Everingham second.... Among the visitors from Peekskill were ... Mr. B. 1915 The Daily Argus, Nov.5, 1915, (Page 10).. "Miss Violet H.C. Everingham, aged 30, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin C. Everingham, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Lawrence hospital, Bronxville, after an illness of six weeks. Miss Everingham was taken ill while visiting friends in Bronxville and later was removed to the hospital."
1915 The Highland Democrat, 1915... "Violet H.C. Everinghim Miss Violet H.C. Everinghim, eldest daughter of Mrs. Lou and the late Benjamin C. Everinghim, died at the Laurence Hospital, Bronxville, N.Y. on Thursday, Nov 4, from nephritis, from which she had been a sufferer off and on for some time. She had been seriously ill for six weeks previous to her death. Miss Everinghim was born in Morrisania, NY but the greater part of her life was spent in Peekskill, where she attended the public schools and St. Gabriel's. She has been away from Peekskill for a number of years. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Everinghim of 739 South Street; a sister, Margaret, of Bronxville, and a brother Benjamin C. Jr. of Baltimore, Md. "
