1836 The Herald Newspaper, New York, NY, Feb 10, 1836.. "Henry W. Bates, No.6 Platt Steet, wholesale dealers in Cloths, Cassimeres and Vestings and other Dry Goods, has lately received a new and handsome assortment of Cloths." it appears that like Elizabeth's father, Henry was also a merchant & cloth dealer. In 1836 there are many newspaper ads for Henry's store.
1836 The Morning Courier and New York Enquirer, Dec 15, 1836.. "Married last evening, by his Honor the Mayor, Mr. Henry W. Bates, to Elizabeth R., daughter of Mr. Joseph D. Everingham, all of this city. "

1854 The Morning Courier, December 1854.. "Died,.. On the morning of the 14th instant, Elizabeth R., wife of Henry W. Bates. The friends and family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Saturday, 16th, at 2 o'clock, 50 State street, Brooklyn."
1855 STATE CENSUS Brooklyn, Kings, NY (June 9, 1855, #229).. "Henry W Bates 42, b.MA, widowed,.. William G. Bates 17, son, b.NY,.. Joseph D. Bates 15, son, b.NY,.. Ann Carl 24, b.IRE, servant" if the 1850 and 1855 census are the right family (It appears to be/plus they named a son after her father), then Elizabeth died before June of 1855.
1881 Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings, NY.. "Joseph D. Bates, b.29 Oct 1839, d.22 Oct 1881. his wife; Hanna Maria (Lewis) Bates (b.1846 d.1913), they had a son named Joseph Delaplaine Bates (b.1876 d.1951)." (there are over 200 BATES buried here)
