1896 St.Paris News, Friday, April 17, 1896.. "(Lena Section).. Sunday was the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Evernham's wedding day and it was also the 49th birthday of Samantha, their older daughter. This being a double anniversary their friends and relatives thought it a good time to make them a surprise, so the crowd met at convenient places in town and at 1p.m. they went in solid column and took them by storm."
