1925 Philadelphia Inquirer, PA, Dec 27, 1925.. "Annual Christmas party for the children of the Elks was held in the Elks club attended by three thousand children. George Hartzell in the guise of Santa Clause passed out gifts from beneath the large tree." ... not positive this is the same George, but the one above is also listed in the Inquirer, Dec 1923 - "George Hartzell as Kris Kringle, distributed 1000 pairs of shoes, 3000 pairs of stockings and 200 suits of clothes besides many other gifts at the Elks club." It should be noted that there were a few George Hartzell's in Philadelphia, including a Barnum & Bailey Clown (George's father). In the 1930 Philly, PA census alone there were at least 8 George Hartzells.

1952 The Philadelphia Inquirer, Sept. 20, 1952.. "Capt. George M. Hartzell, relieved of command of the Motor Harbor patrol and transferred to the Headquarters roll, preparatory to his retirement on Sept.28."

1956 The Philadelphia Inquirer, August 14, 1956.. "Hartzell, Aug. 12, Loretta T. (Everingham), wife of George M. Hartzell of 1843 E. Tioga St.. Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Thurs. 2 P.M., at A.J. Hemberger, Kensington ave. & West Moreland st. Interment North Cedar Hill Cemetery."
