1882 Death Registration -- Job H. Everingham, age 28, married, occ: engineer, b.abt 1854 Union Co. OH... died 20 Jan 1882 at East Liberty, Logan, OH.
1882 The Miami Helmet Newspaper, Piqua, OH, Jan 26, 1882.. "The bursting of a sawmill boiler at East Liberty, OH, on the 19th , a man named Cross was killed and six wounded. Job Everingham had a leg torn off, Capt. Smith had his skull crushed, and C.T. Hough, who was putting in new saws, was badly hurt."
1882 The Sidney Journal, Jan 27, 1882.. "Horrible boiler explosion occurred at East Liberty, Logan county, last Friday. It instantly killed Albert Crouse (Cross?), the fireman. He had his neck broken and both legs blown off. He leaves a wife and two children, who were dependent upon him. Job Everingham, Jr. had one eye put out and one leg blown off. He died on Friday night. He leaves a wife and two children." The info on his children was later corrected to read; He leaves a wife and one child.
Insurance company's account of Job's death - The Locomotive, published by the Hartford steam boiler inspection & insurance co. 1883... "A distressing calamity occurrred at the village of East Liberty at 11 o'clock Jan. 20th, 1882.. New machinery and a band saw had just been put in a mill owned by Josiah Morrison. A band saw being a curiosity to many of the people of that section, a large number gathered to witness the trial of the new machinery. Shortly after the mill was put in motion, and without warning, the boiler, which was old, exploded, tearing both legs off a man named Albert Crouse, instantly killing him. Job Everingham also had his right leg blown off, and it is thought cannot recover."
1882 The Union County Journal, Feb 2, 1883, pg.3.. "Fireman Job Everingham, who was fatally hurt, and died the same day, was sitting near where Cross (Crouse?) was standing, had his right leg cut off just below the knee, and the thigh and hip of same leg were both broken. He was otherwise bruised and badly scalded. Both were young men. Cross leaves a wife and three children, and Everingham a wife and one child."
