fact sources and writings about this individual:

Research of Kevin Everingham of MI, 2020;

1860 US Census (June 28th 1860), Jacksonville, Utica, Chickasaw, Iowa (Page 106, household #907) ... William Everingham 37, b.CAN.W,.. Elizabeth 37, b.OH,.. James 15, b.IL,.. Mary J. 13, b.IA,.. John 12, b.IA,.. Sarah 9, b.IL,.. Margaret 6, b.IA,.. Jacob 4, b.IA,.. Martha 2, b.IA,.. Jacob Everingham 66, b.CAN W.

1915 Illustrated Historical Atlas of Chickasaw County, IA, (Sec 2, Page 4).. "Utica township section, some of our sturdy men who shouldered their muskets and went forth to preserve the Union in defense of the stars and stripes. They are namely William Everingham and sons James and John Everingham..." this is the only reference to John, son of William Everingham that I've found since the 1860 census. The reference from 1989 below is likely just repeating what was listed in the 1915 Atlas. This could be a typo, or there is a story about John that nobody has yet uncovered.

1989 Page 2 of the New Hampton Economist News, Iowa, Aug 29, 1989 .. "Utica township has a history all it's own... Men that served in the Civil War from Utica township were: William Slaight, Ridgeway Johnson, John Johnson, Wm. Everingham & sons; John and James."

It's possible that John simply died during the Civil War, or prior to the war. Maybe he was a civilian death? No direct connection in Civil War records has been found to my knowledge. A John Everman joined the 8th New Jersey volunteer infantry, enlisting Feb 24, 1865. Is it possible that John listed his name wrong and gave a wrong age?.. he would have been only 16 at that time.
