Notice "Octavia Allen" is named here, and in the 1886 & 1888 articles.
1882 Salt Lake Daily Herald, Utah, December 2, 1882.. Divorce-Libel Chicago, Some days ago, Mrs. Louisa Everham, wife of J.B. Everham, actor, brought suit for divorce, alleging adultry with Octavia Allen, widow of the late D.R. Allen. Today Mrs. Allen brought suit against Mrs. Everham damages being laid at $10,000. This same article was printed in North Dakota, Minnesota, New York, California and other states, this might mean that Joseph or "Octavia Allen" were at least moderately known as actors. "Octavia Allen, well known divorced actress, died in July, 1893 at age 53" (according to her obituary in the New York Herald)

1883 Sacramento Daily Record-Union, May 19, 1883... Judge Gardner, of Chicago, has entered his decree in the seperate-maintenance suit of Louisa Everham, actress, against Joseph B. Everham, actor, and ordered him to pay her $65 a month alimony until further orders of the Court.
in 1880 the average carpenter or blacksmith earned about $60 per month and by 1890 they earned around $70, while general labor workers earned about $32/month in 1880 and $36/month by 1890. By comparison, you can see how this $65/m alimony in 1883 was substantial.

1886 The Frankfort Roundabout Newspaper, KY, November 20, 1886..."The Woman Hater" is the title of a new comedy which John T. Raymond produced for the first time in this city Sunday evening at Hooley's. The support was excellent, Helen Tracy, Octavia Allen, J.B. Everham and William Cullington being especially good in their respective parts.

1888 The NY Sun, Sept. 30, 1888 --- Clara Morris will face a large audience tomorrow night. Her company has been selected with considerable care. Frederick DeBelleville, her new leading actor, hardly needs an introduction here. His work is always vigorous and picturesque. Mattie Earle is an actress who long ago gave evidence of ability. Mrs. Octavia Allen, J.B. Everham, Walter Kelly, and Mollie Revel are pleasantly familiar here from frequent appearances with various combinations.

1897 Saint Paul Globe, Minnesota, Aug 9, 1897.. "All the Comforts of Home, will be the attraction at the metropolitan opera house tonight. Several new faces will appear with the company tonight, among whom will be J.B. Everham, who will be seen as Theodore Bender, a retired produce dealer. Mr. Everham is a comedian of the old school, whose success upon the stage in roles of comic nature has been quite pronounced."
next day, August 10th (review of the show)... "Theodore Bender is the chief mirth-provoker. The role was entrusted to a new member of the company, J.B. Everham, and most happily so entrusted. Mr. Everham is an excellent comedian. His methods are those of the artist. He is buoyant, not boisterous. His laughter is contagious, his expression genial, his demeanor unassuming."

1899 The New York Dramatic Mirror, August 12, 1899, (St.Paul) "The Neill Co. presented Nancy & Co. at the Metropolitan Opera House, July 27-29, to large and appreciative audiences... Joseph B. Everham as Ebenezer Griffing and Herschell Mayall as Keife O'Keife each did splendid work.... Joseph B. Everham as Richard Phenyl displayed marked skill in his clever handling of the part of the generous old bachelor."

1900 CENSUS Chicago, Cook, IL (Page 15B, family #271)... Louise Everham 61, b.Mar 1839 ENG, widowed, mother of 8 children, 5 living... Louise Everham 26, b.Dec 1874 IL, dau,.. Josephine Everham 24, b.Dec 1876 IL, dau,.. Astrid Everham 17, b.Feb 1883 IL, granddaughter,.. Phillip Halloran 35, b.IRE, lodger. Louise lists herself as a widow, although Joseph can still be found in newspapers as an active actor after this census, and they were divorced.
