1960 A ceremony was held at the Avalon Post Office on Monday, July 16th to recognize the office's 58 years of service to the Borough. A special commemoration plaque was unveiled that shows the ribbon cutting event that was held in 1960, attended by Mayor Donald Everingham, Postmaster Elmer Holmes, and Miss Avalon, Nancy Warren. The plaque was presented to the Post Office by Brian Austin, the son of Nancy Warren Austin.

Donald was the Mayor of Avalon, New Jersey 1959 to Oct 30, 1960 whe he and his wife died in an auto accident. The newspaper articles about this crash can be seen in the book; Tales of the Everingham family
