Margaret Corkan immigrated to Canada from England at approximate age 15!, see Home Children info 1893, below.. According to an 1891 census of the Lunatic Asylum of Christ church of Lancaster, England.. "John Corkan" was a 58 year old married labourer patient there. IF this is the correct John Corkan, is this why Margaret was sent to Canada?
1893 British Home Children immigration web site.. "contains a photo too large to see many of the children's faces, but in that photo labeled Quarrier Party, Carthaginian, June 6, 1893,.. is Maggie Corkin." Later research, beginning in the 1980s, exposed abuse and hardships of the relocated children.
The British Home Children Registry lists; Maggie Corkan (b.~1878) and Florence Corkan (b.~1881), a probable sister.
