Charles Worked for the town of Castile Highway Department for 38 years and served as highway superintendant for 14 years. He was a village trustee from 1947 to 1954 and a town assessor from 1973 to 1981. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Castile, and the Castile Historical Society.

She was a 66 year member of the United Church of Christ in Castile, the Women's fellowship, the Unity Class, The Castile Wednesday Club, Castile Historical Society and the American Association of Retired People (AARP).
