1901 The Highland Democrat, February 2, 1901... "A Peekskill Boy's Good Luck. Benjamin C. Everingham Jr., only son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin C. Everingham of this village will go to congress next session. He will not be a member of the lower house, but has been made private secretary to a Maryland congressman-elect, Charles R. Schirm. The young man's salary will be $1,200 and a good experience at the capital. Mr. Everinghim lies at 917 madison ave, Baltimore, Md., which is in the thirteenth ward. He has taken a lively interest in politics and during the last campaign made a number of speeches. He was one of the Judges of Elections in the seventh precinct. A Baltimore paper says; At present Mr. Everinghim is in the employ of Mr. Joseph Wisenfeld, at his store on West Baltimore street. he is an expert stenographer and typewriter and has attained some success as a writer of short stories. New York is his birth place. Mr. Everinghim is 25 years old and is married."
