My dear Mr Everingham,
I was pleased to be able to access your 'Everingham' website and learn of your activities, etc. I do not wish to denegrate your remarkable efforts, but may I be permitted to suggest that perhaps a little of the information in the section on ancient Everingham history is needing some updating. On the death in 2000 of my mother, together with the death in 2001 of my uncle, I succeeded to the title of Baron Everingham of Laxton as created by writ of summons to Parliament on 4th March 1309.
If you would be agreeable, I would like to offer my own family information for your website regarding the early Everinghams so that all your visitors have the benefit of the definative family history as has been recorded by "The Roll of the Peerage" which has been newly established just last year here in the UK. To claim a Peerage that has been in abeyance for so many years has meant an unprecedented amount of research. All information submitted has to be scrupulously checked for accuracy and any information that has no basis in fact or in rationale cannot be accepted. It has taken me several years to establish my claim but with the coming of the new Peerage Roll, the process is now fully operational.
There is a great deal of information to hand and I don't expect that I could supply it all at once, but if you are interested, I can begin to pass you details following some agreement between us as to the format, etc.
I would be grateful to have word back from you regarding my suggestions and I look forward to your response with interest.
Rt. Hon. The Lord Everingham of Laxton.
