interesting circumstantial evidence; since George was born in Hocking County, Ohio in 1830, it's interesting to note that the only Tester in that area, was Jacob Tester in; Falls, Hocking County, Ohio according to the 1830 Census, having a total family of 4 males, & 4 females. So, Jacob is almost certainly George's father... In 1840 there were 4 Testers in Ohio; George, Samuel, William & Jacob,.. Jacob Tester was in German Township, Allen County, Ohio, and had 6 males and 5 females in his family... By 1850 the only Jacob Tester I can find is working on a farm in Moulton, Auglaize, Ohio and was born about 1834, I believe he is likely a son of the older Jacob Tester and probable brother of George. I am not sure where Jacob Tester Sr. was in 1850. The information above is my rationale linking George Washington Tester to Jacob Tester.

1851 Marriage Record (Pg.69 #362)... George W. Tester & Sophia Spangler married 19 June 1851 at Allen, Ohio.

Tester, and will stand for the season of 1882 in Henry county. He is one of the finest all-purpose horses in the State." (see NORMAN BILL ad in this same paper)

1885 Democratic Northwest Newspaper, April 9, 1885 (page 8).. "You should not fail to come and see the young Norman horse Taupe, No.2416 N.R.N.H., he is also recorded in the Perchan stud book of France as No.390. He is the first imported draft horse ever owned in Henry County. he is now owned by G.W. Tester & Son. We have also just purchased the $50 board Buckshot which we intend to use at the head of our herd and we also have some very fine sow pigs for sale, one of them is with pigs from the boar mentioned." G.W. Tester shows up in several newspapers in the 1880's buying and selling horses at county fairs.

1891 Democratic Northwest Newspaper, Aug 13, 1891.. "social section; George W. Tester of Liberty township was in Napoleon Saturday."
1891 Democratic Northwest Newspaper, Oct 8, 1891, Napoleon, OH.. "Patrons of Henry County meet in Napoleon... assembled in mass convention at the court house Saturday and placed in nomination by acclamation; Treasurer, Geo. W. Tester of Liberty."

looks like George decided to retire in 1896
1896 Democratic Northwest & Henry County News, August 20, 1896.. "Public sale - Having decided to quit farming, I will offer for sale at public auction, at my residence on the farm of G.W. "George Washington Tester, b.22 Jan 1830, died 17 Feb 1902., buried on his same lot is wife; Sophia Spangler Tester (1831-1922)." This gives us George's middle name and birth/death dates of him and Sophia.

Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center, Henry, OH ... NOTE: George Washington Tester (1865-1939) is buried next to Aria Cheeseman Tester (1863-1940) and Nellie M. Seymour Tester (1874-1912)... I believe Nellie was likely his first wife.
