2002 Hornes, Doris A., Saginaw, Michigan. Passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 76 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Osborn, Doris was born February 8, 1925 in Shiawassee County's Bennington Township and moved to Saginaw in 1934 from Owosso. She was a 1943 graduate of Arthur Hill High School and was employed by the Saginaw Gun Plant during World War II and later was employed at Columbia Mills Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1980. Doris was married to Donald Hornes on October 15, 1955 in Saginaw and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1996. Mrs. Hornes enjoyed sewing and traveling, was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a Femme of Caband #600 Forty & Eight. Surviving are two sisters, Lois (Mrs. Frank) Kodrick and Velma (Mrs. Harold) Sweet of Saginaw; one brother, Gerald (Elaine) Osborn of Saginaw; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Patricia) Hornes and David (Joyce) Hornes of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hornes was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Wojcik, Beverly and Zelda Osborn and one brother, Loren Osborn. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. with Rev. Timothy Loewe officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. 2003 Sweet, Velma Adele, Saginaw Township, Michigan. Passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003, at her daughter's home in Saginaw Township following a brief illness. Age 74 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Morgan) Osborn, Velma was born February 23, 1929 in Shiawassee County's Bennington Township. She was married to Harold I. Sweet Sr. on January 23, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1993. Mrs. Sweet was employed for a short time at Homemaker's Shop as a sales clerk. Velma was a member of Hopevale Memorial Baptist Church, had a strong love for Jesus and enjoyed her God given talent as an artist. Mrs. Sweet had previous memberships at St. James Lutheran Church and Resurrection Lutheran Church. Surviving are six daughters, two sons and their spouses, Dari Lou and Patrick McGinnis of Maryland; Charlys and Paul Harms; Deborah and Raymond Meyer, Saginaw; Cynthia and Chris Roenicke, Saginaw; Jennifer and Bernard Emmendorfer, Saginaw; Janeene Sweet, Saginaw; Harold I. Sweet Jr., Saginaw and Howard and Laura Sweet, Waterford; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois (Frank) Kodrick; one brother, Gerald Osborn and several nieces and nephews survive. Mrs. Sweet was preceded in death by four sisters, Doris Hornes, Joyce Wojcik, Zelda and Beverly Osborn and by one brother, Loren Osborn. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Hopevale Memorial Baptist Church, 5360 Shattuck Road with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. 2010 KODRICK, Lois B. - Passed away Saturday August 7th 2010 at Healthsource Saginaw at the age of 83. Lois was born in Owosso, MI on October 10, 1926 to Charles and Myrtle (Morgan) Osborn. She was married to Frank B. Kodrick on April 5, 1944, he predeceased her on August 19, 2008. Lois was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Surviving are her four children, Cheryl (Gary) Mackley of Linwood, Frank M. (Lynda Otey) Kodrick of Midland, Geraldine (Ronald) Kelly of Owosso, and Charles "Marty" (Lu) Kodrick of Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; one brother Gerald Osborn; her aunt Lucille Kopschitz, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, three siblings who passed in infancy and three sisters Joyce Wojcik, Doris Homes and Velma Sweet. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson officiating. Entombment will be at Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. on Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. 2011 OSBORN, Gerald E. of Bridgeport formerly of Saginaw Twp. Passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. He was 83 years old. Gerald E. Osborn was born January 29, 1928 in Benington Township, MI to the late Charles and Myrtle (Morgan) Osborn. He was married to Hesper Barker on August 24, 1948. He then married Josephine M. "Elaine" Tucker on August 21, 1993. She passed away on November 6, 2002. Gerald was engaged to Eyleen Wachner. Gerald was a veteran of WWII proudly serving his country with the U.S. Marine Corps as a China Marine. He received a WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal for his service. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post #439 and V.F.W. Post 9809. Throughout his life Gerald worked with in the automotive industry including Saginaw Steering Gear. Gerald is survived by his fiancée, Eyleen Wachner; his children: Gary (Linda) Osborn, David (Sandy) Osborn, Bruce Osborn, Loretta Averill and Barbara (Tim) Yax; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his aunt, Lucille Kopchitz. Many extended family and friends also survive him. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Joyce Wojcik, Doris Hornes, Velma Sweet and Lois B. Kodrick. According to Gerald's wishes cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw. Rev. Ken MacGillivray will officiate. Military honor's will be provided under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deilser Funeral Home.
