By the time Lura was a teenager, she was the only living child of John & Anna Everingham. Her father died when she was 14. Brothers Claudie & William had likely died before she was born but DeForest died whe she was about 13. He was only 9 and was playing with two other boys who had a rifle. The rifle went off and killed DeForest. Lura married at age 17 (she claimed age 18 on her license). Her daughter Vera died at age 6.

1960 Mancelona Herald Newspaper, Thur, December 22, 1960.. "Lura Harding Dies of Stroke... Lura E. Harding, 75, died suddenly at her home in Persons Harbor of a stroke, December 10th. The former Lura Everingham, she was born April 17, 1885 in Alba. On August 20, 1902 she married Clare Harding, who predeceased her. She was a member of the Congregational Church, and a life member of the Eastern Star, Mancelona. She leaves a daughter, Lillian A. Davis of Saginaw. Funeral serices were held Tuesday afternoon from the Miller Funeral Home with Doctor Markley officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery."
