1John de ETTON was a colorful figure in ancient England and was the son of Thomas and Isabel de ETTON. John was Knighted in 1390. Records show: In 1390 John traveled to Prussia with the Earl of Derby who later became Henry IV. In 1395 Sir John was granted the office of Steward of Galtres for life. From 1411 to 1414 and from 1415 to 1421 John de Etton was a member of Parliament for the county of York. He is also known to have served for some time as the Sheriff of Yorkshire.
