Will of Solomon Ivins
I Solomon Ivins of the township of Upper Freehold in Co. of Monmouth and Eastern Division of the State of New Jersey, being sick and weak in Body but of perfect and sound recollecting mind and memory do this seventeenth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety, Make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First. I recommend my Soul to God who gave it and body to the Dust from which it came to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner. Item. I give unto my son Daniel Ivins all that Tract of Land and Plantation whereon he now lives which I purchased of William French and adjoining Lands of Clayton Newbold and Moses Ivins Situate in the Township of Mansfield, County of Burlington and Western Division of State aforesaid, to him and his Heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give unto my son John Ivins all that Tract of Land and Plantation whereon he now lives which I purchased of Joseph English Junr. Situate and lying in the Township of County and State last above described and adjoining Land of Nathan Robbins and Samuel Newbold to him, his Heirs and assigns forever And I order my two sons Daniel Ivins and John Ivins to pay the sum of three hundred pounds each toward discharging my Just Debts. Item. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Hunt the sum of five shillings and one Bond which I have against her Husband to be paid by my Executors hereinafter named within one year after my decease. Item. I give unto my son Solomon Ivins the House and lot of land lying in Windsor Township, Middlesex County & whereon he now lives and fifteen pounds a year for the term of ten years to be raised out of my Moveable Estate and paid by my Executors to him, his Heirs & assigns forever. Item. I give unto my two sons Thomas Ivins and Samuel Ivins my Grist Mill and all that tract of land or plantation which I purchased of Shedlock Negus and Tobias Henderson Situate and lying in the Township of Upper Freehold and County of Monmouth to be equally divided between them, to their Heirs and assigns forever. And my will is that my two sons Thomas and Samuel Ivins pay unto my two daughters Mary and Sarah Ivins the sum of Sixty pounds Each at the age of Eighteen years & and all the Issues, Rents and profits from the Mill and Land to be for the use of my two Boys. Item. I give unto my two Sons Ezekiel Ivins and Joseph Ivins all that tract of land and Plantation whereon I now live lying in the Township & County last above described to be equally divided between them to them, their Heirs and assigns forever, and I order my two sons Ezekiel and Joseph Ivins to pay to my two daughters Mary and Sarah Ivins the sum of fifty pounds Each when they shall arrive to the age of Eighteen yrs. The issues Rents and Profits to be applied in manner as above pointed out. Item. I give unto Mary my wife the sum of five shillings in lieu of her right of Dower. I llikewise order my herein after named Executors to pay all my Just Debts and funeral Charges, Six hundred pounds thereof to be paid to my sons John and Daniel Ivins, the residue to be raised out of my personal estate. Item. I give unto my two sons Thomas and Samuel Ivins all the residue remainder & personal estate not already bequeathed to be equally divded between them. And lastly I nominate Mary my wife and my son John Ivins to be Executors Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. 1790. IN WITNESS WHEREOF I HAVE HEREUNTO SET MY HAND AND SEAL THE DAY AND YEAR ABOVE WRITTEN. SOLOMON IVINS (seal)
Signed, Sealed Published Prononunced & Declared in the presence of Barzillai Fenimore, Caleb Rockhill, Nathan Rockhill X his mark
Barzillai Fenimore and Nathen Rockhill two of the Witnesses to within Will duly being affirmed did declare that they saw Solomon Ivins the Testator therein named sign & seal the same and heard him publish, pronounce and declare the within writing to be his last will and testament and that at the doing thereof the Testator was of sound and disposing mind, and memory as as the affitmants know and as they verily believe and that Caleb Rockhill the other subscribing Evidence was present at the same time & signed his name as witness to the said Will together with these affirmants in the presence of the said Testator. Affirmed at Monmouth the 15th Day of February 1791 before me. Tho. Henderson Surrogate The above will being proved Probate was granted by his excellency William Patterson esquire unto John Ivins Executor in said will named, he being first duly affirmed well and truly to perform the same Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory and render and Just and true account when thereunto lawfully required.
